On Wednesday 6th March, Year 6 visited SSE Wembley Arena to be part of the WE Day UK celebration. We heard from a range of motivational speakers and watched different singers/bands performing. It was absolutely amazing to hear from people that had gone through struggles in their life and instead of letting it keep them down, they rose above it and achieved astonishing goals.
Naomi Campbell told us how her mother was her biggest supporter growing up and always taught her to follow her dreams. She worked with Nelson Mandela on causes that were close to her heart to help those in need.
Prince Harry spoke to us about how each individual has the power to make a change in the world – no matter if you’re an adult or a child.
Nicole Scherzinger introduced YouTube star Nikki Lilly. She told us all about her condition and hard ‘being different’ was for her at the beginning. But she overcame her fears and was brave enough to create a YouTube channel where she explained her condition and does fun things like makeup tutorials.
We heard from the deputy Mayor of London, supermodels who campaign for different charities, victims of knife crime, advocates for stopping knife crime, a member of the House of Lords and many more.
In addition to this, there were many performances to entertain us – Pixie Lott, Jack & Jack, Tom Walker and Liam Payne.
The schools that have been involved with the WE Organisation for years, and who have been involved with local and global projects, were among the speakers on the day. They told us about clean water and homelessness projects and how we can get involved.
Co-founders Craig and Marc Kielburger echoed the message that every speaker had been spreading on the day – you’re never too young to make a difference or a change. Together WE can!
