02 Nov Year 4 go to the zoo!
We had the most fantastic day at London Zoo! It was a bit of a long journey to get there but when we did, we realised it was worth it. We were there because we have been learning about habitats in science and we were going to a workshop to help us learn more. But first, we had some time in our groups to explore… Seeing real life tigers was unbelievable. One looked quite sleepy but there was another one prowling around. It looked a bit menacing. There were all kinds of monkeys and gorillas, including the one that had escaped earlier in the week. We were all a bit afraid that it could happen again but Ms. Cousins reassured us and actually he looked quite gentle. We were lucky enough to go into the goat pen and help feed them. They were really tiny and lovely to stroke but they were more interested in their food than in us. Once we were finished our lunch it was time for our workshop. We talked about different habitats and why certain animals lived there. All animals have different adaptations to help them survive in their habitat and this was really interesting. We also got up very close to a real cockroach and some us were brave enough to stroke it’s back. It felt hard but smooth. It was a great day and we learnt a lot!
